Pantheism as the foundation |

Pantheism is fundamental to Paneism, a school of thought that was decisively promoted by Baruch de Spinoza in the 18th century and which equates God with the cosmos; the divine thus inspirits all things that surround us and is immanent in this world of ours. There is no personal, personified God. In short form:
God = nature
The only difference between the individual theories mentioned before is whether God is afflicted in our world (immanence) or is outside it (transcendence) and if the universe was preceded or not by an act of creation (e.g. through the Big Bang). The divine is to be understood in all these thoughts as energy or energetic constant.

Prominent proponents of pantheism include i.a.:
- Platon
- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
- Friedrich Nietzsche
- Albert Einstein
- Carl Sagan
